Two Days***Four Workshops***Four Trainers
Two days of intensive training by four nationally recognized trainers. The National Hispanic/Latino Prevention Network is responding to numerous requests for training in four area: Writing culturally competent successful proposals; Using culturally component intervention in the everyday work of service; Motivating and mobilizing our barrios/community; and Intervening in the rising numbers of Latinas in prison.
Paul Cardenas, MSW President/CEO, National Multicultural Associates Denver, Colorado
Mr. Cardenas is a nationally respected consultant and designer of culturally competent programs. He has a long history of writing successful grants benefiting the Latino Communities in many states. US presidents and other international officials have sought his counsel and used his expertise successfully building service programs for Latino communities and educating them on health issues. Participants will develop analytical skills by learning how to think-through the steps necessary to build a successful culturally competent proposal. Participants will learn specific techniques and resources for presenting attractive to potential funding entities.
Martha Castaneda, MSW Cosultant/Trainer Phoenix, Arizona
Martha Castaneda has been a pioneer in the development and implementation of cultural competency models for fifteen years. She has been a national trainer continually refining and demystifying cultural competency concept making them practical and user friendly for frontline worker, program developers, and managers. She is a passionate advocate for people's rights to receive appropriate services regardless of their race or ethnicity. Participants will learn specific interventions, explore important cultural differences, and expand treatment planning skills by using culturally specific information.
Christina Jose-Kampfner, Ph.D. Professor, Author, Advocate Ann Arbor, Michigan
Christina Jose-Kampfner has been studying, teaching, and writing extensively about Latinas and their children for many years. She has a special expertise regarding Latinas in prison and the impact on their children. She had done research in Mexico and the United States on the impact of children living inside and outside of the prison system. Dr. Jose-Kampfner has received special honors and awards for her work and tireless advocacy. Participants will learn prevention, intervention, and advocacy strategies for this vulnerable growing population of Latinas leaving their children homeless and dependent on ill-prepared state systems.

America Bracho is a renowned trainer nationally applauded for her work in mobilizing and empowering Latino communities. She has been instrumental in the development and success of the "promotora" models now being used throughout the country. America's knowledge of cultural competency, her ability to rally communities to take control of their own destinies, and her passion for strength based intervention, has made her a much sought after national figure in healthcare. Participants will learn the ingredients to successful interventions with Latino communities who do not avail themselves of mainstream service and how to empower them to make mainstream their stream. |
